Call for Applications: Editor of Papers of the Bibliographical Society of Canada

The Bibliographical Society of Canada/Société bibliographique du Canada (BSC/SbC) invites applications or expressions of interest for the position of Editor of the Society’s bilingual online scholarly journal, Papers of the Bibliographical Society of Canada/Cahiers de la Société bibliographique du Canada. The Society and its online journal promote the study of the history, description, and transmission of texts in all media and formats, with an emphasis on Canada.

The Editor works collaboratively to produce one issue of the online journal per year. The Editor oversees the initial review of submissions and the peer review process; coordinates copyediting and editorial tasks with the Journal Manager and Layout Editor. The Editor also coordinates the work of the French and English book review editors. The Editor is expected to represent the journal within their scholarly and professional communities and to promote the journal in order to attract and identify submissions.

The Editor should have a background in bibliography or book history broadly defined and a record of publications and presentations. Reading, speaking, and written knowledge of French are distinct assets, as is experience in scholarly publishing. The Editor will also serve as a member of the Society’s executive and publications committee and will be expected to attend the Society’s biannual fall and spring meetings. The incumbent receives an honorarium of $1,000/year (CAD) and gratis registration to the BSC’s annual meeting.
